We answer your questions. PDF Print E-mail
This section contains frequently asked questions about PASANOOK.com Language Center.  Please check here before you send inquiries to us.

What kind of the teaching method does the school adopt? PDF Print E-mail

Passbook Language Center (Bangkok, Thailand) adopts the Sugiyama Language Learning Method (SLLM) for English, Japanese, and Thai courses. This principle was based on Mr. Sugiyama (the owner of the school)'s abundant experience of language teaching for over a decade.

The SLLM is a very efficient and effective method of language study, and according to our survey, no other schools have adopted this method so far. We believe this method will greatly enhance your speaking/listening skills.

Can I become fluent after studying at the school? PDF Print E-mail

This is one of the most difficult question to answer.

If you study language at least 1-1.5 hours a day in accordance with the Sugiyama Language Learning Method (SLLM), you can get fair language speaking/listening skills 3-4 months later, and become very fluent approximately 6-9 months later.

But as you know, this depends on the amount of your study (not only at a class, but also a self-study at home) and the level of your motivation.

Needless to say, "continuing study" is very important. But only continuing is not enough. Think about why many people studied language for a long period of time but cannot speak? The answer is:

They studied in a wrong way.

Mr. Sugiyama (the owner of our school) has been working on the teaching method for almost a decade and find a most efficient method of language learning. Cedarberg School of Language (Bangkok, Thailand) adopts this what we call "Sugiyama Method" at all of our classes.

What's the benefit of studying at PASANOOK.com Language Center? PDF Print E-mail

Pasanook Language Center (Bangkok, Thailand) has a quite unique aspect. It's not only a language school. Try to talk with foreign visitors from the U.S., Japan, and Europe and get more and more friends from all over the world. You may want to enjoy a short excursion and/or a small party with those visitors.

If you come from overseas to study Thai, you will also have plenty of chances to talk with local Thai visitors.

How many students learn together? PDF Print E-mail

The group lessons are divided into three different courses by size:

Group A is the smallest classes. 3-5 students learn together. Considering the amount of practice that students can get and the tuition fees, this course is the most cost-effective.

Group B is midium-sized classes and 10-15 students learn together. The students are equally given the chances of speaking with a native speaker teacher. This is the most well-balanced course optimized for general language learners.

Group C is large group classes and 20-25 students learn together. This course is designed to enable students to learn at the lowest cost (59 Bahts/Hour-).

At a private or semi-private lesson, students can learn in a highly customized environment, and get at least 4-10 times more time of speaking than the group lessons.

Our teachers are instructed not to take a violent attitude, harass the students personally and/or sexually, discriminate by race, religion, sex, or political background.  Also, all students are given equal opportunity of speaking/listening during class.

I want to start to study after a long interval. Any advice for me? PDF Print E-mail

Even if you studied some language before, but you have not gotten a chance of improving your skills for a certain period of time, your brain has many "traces" of previous language study. You may seem to have forgetten everything, but if you start a language study again, your brain will immediately start to absorb your lost knowledge again. We call this "brushing up".

You don't need to worry about such a "dormant" period. Our teachers will take into account the fact that you have studied in the past, and try to effectively improve (brush up) your skills.

Remember -- Never too late to study language.

How long has the school been operating? PDF Print E-mail

PASANOOK.com Language Center was founded in 2006.  Mr. Kieft (Richard, from Holland) started to teach the Dutch language to Thai students.  His class has attracted many students since that time.

Mr. Sugiyama (Manji, from Japan) has abundant experience in teaching English and Japanese at several language schools in Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan.

Combining Richard's ambitious approach toward language educatoin and Manji's past experience the in community support business and also as an English/Japanese teacher, they decided to start a new school in the eastern surburb of Bangkok to provide reasonably-priced but high-quality language courses to both local people and foreigners.

The school name was formerly CLS (Community Language School).

Thus, Richard's initial foray into Dutch classes has evolved into a more comprehensive school that also teaches English, Japanese and Thai as of early 2008.  With the rapid expansion of the school, the Dutch courses are separately held at a different location at this moment.

With the increase of students, CLS was relocated to a new place (Sukhumvit 83) and renamed to PASANOOK.com Language Center.

PASANOOK.com started new courses with the new concept, "Now Everyone Can Learn... For Better Life".  PASANOOK.com also places importance on social contributions and hosting social activities in order to provide some happiness and satisfaction in those lives that we can touch.

I am planning a travel to Thailand for study. Can you arrange accommodations? PDF Print E-mail

For the students who come from overseas (outside Thailand). We can arrange a private room/a dorm bed at Sukhumvit On-nut Guesthouse which is attached to the Sukhumvit On-nut Community Center.

Generally speaking, if you stay in Bangkok for a short period of time, renting an apartment would be a bit hassle. The average monthly rent is 6700-8700 Bahts/month. This may look reasonable, but some hidden costs and drawbacks lurk behind.

When you rent an apartment, first, you must pay:

* Deposit (Equivalent to a 2-month rent, which is refunded when you cancel your apartment on condition that you rent the room for a certain period of time - generally 6-10 months. When you cancel your room within 6-10 months, the deposit is not refundable.)
* The first-month rent

Every month, you must pay:

* Room Rent
Utility Charges (Water/Electricity)
* Internet, TV charges etc.

If you stay for just 1-2 months, we recommend you to stay at a guesthouse. The room charges are as follows:
Room Type
Equipment One day One month (30 days)
